ALEXANDRIA, VA — Today the Assisted Living Federation of America announced the release of the ALFA Disaster Planning Guide & Tool Kit, specifically designed to help senior living operators manage resident safety and evacuation planning during a disaster.
The ALFA Disaster Planning Guide & Tool Kit provides senior living providers and operators with innovative check lists, templates and other interactive tools to help make disaster planning easier and more effective.
“We learned a lot from Katrina. We realized that there was a need for expertise on planning for catastrophes of that magnitude and that we needed to be proactive, knowing that seniors are especially vulnerable during disasters,” notes Richard Grimes, president and CEO at ALFA.
The in-depth guide provides readers with best practices and practical guidelines, culled from a team of leading senior living executives in the industry.
Grimes concludes, “We wanted to create a resource specifically designed for senior living residence environments, so we brought the industry’s practitioners together to tackle the most challenging logistical issues facing members. The result is a resource that empowers providers with real-world advice for many types of disasters and it includes advice on evacuating or sheltering in place.”
The ALFA Disaster Planning Guide & Tool Kit is available online, for members. The ALFA web site also features many new resources for members, covering the latest operational excellence and best practices and regulatory information for senior living executives.
The ALFA Disaster Planning Guide & Tool Kit and valuable add-on templates and check lists are available at no cost to ALFA members. ALFA Members can visit the ALFA Member-Only web site at www.alfa.org to access the tool kit.
Nonmembers can purchase the PDF Guide for $99 from the ALFA Store.
