State of Senior Living Workforce & Public Policy
Senior living leaders have the ability to represent the industry and advocate for ideas and concepts that support both providers and consumers. Maintaining relationships and engaging in dialogue at both the federal and state levels helps to influence public policy, advance positions, and avoid unnecessary regulations.
During this session, you’ll hear a public policy update from Rep. Virginia Foxx (NC) on current labor and workforce trends and proposed legislation and regulations. Congresswoman Foxx represents North Carolina’s 5th district in the U.S. House of Representatives. She currently serves as the Chairwoman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. In that role, Foxx has led efforts to reform the nation’s workforce development system. Prior to serving on Capitol Hill, Foxx spent 10 years in the North Carolina Senate.
Winning the Talent War: Human Capital Management Strategies for Building a Lean, Flexible, High-Performing Team
The nature of work and employment is dramatically changing. The business environment has become one of fierce competition, high risk, erratic markets, constrained resources, and unpredictable resource needs. Senior living providers of all shapes and sizes are facing similar challenges as they compete to recruit top talent and build high-performing teams. Using the latest research in human capital management, this session will connect real-world workforce challenges with evidence-based programs from related industries to address employee retention, recruitment, and engagement in senior living.
Analyzing the Impact of Generational Change on the Senior Living Workplace
Ongoing research reveals strong generational trends in career paths, management practices, attitudes, expectations, and behavior in the workplace. This session will focus on the impact of generational diversity on human capital management in senior living. Explore how the generational mix on your team will impact the future of your recruitment, training, development, supervision, compensation, and retention programs. Additionally, we will focus on the specific generational differences among employees in the senior living workforce–each at different life stages, each with conflicting perspectives, expectations, and needs.
