Argentum New York recently celebrated its 10th Annual Advocacy Day in Albany, New York. Thirty two member advocates gathered to advance the Chapter’s legislative and regulatory agenda and promote the rebranding of NY ALFA to Argentum New York.
Highlights of the event included welcome remarks from James Balda, President & CEO, Argentum, and the presentation of two awards: the Argentum New York 2016 Innovative Collaboration Award to AARP-NY, and the 2016 Innovator Award to Valerie Deetz, Director, Division of Adult Care Facility and Assisted Living Surveillance. New York State Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan also addressed our members at the kick-off reception.
Member advocates met with the Governor’s top health care officials, approximately thirty five legislators, and key staff to advocate for the Chapter’s legislative and regulatory priorities. These advocacy efforts were extremely successful and resulted in the passage of our top two priorities – the Advanced Home Health Aide proposal, which authorizes a new category of advanced home health aide to perform advanced tasks including the administration of medication under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse; and the Long Term Care Insurance Tax Credit bill extending the tax credit to life insurance.
