LAKE OSWEGO, Ore.—Taking inspiration from Women’s History Month in March as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women and examine societal barriers for women pursuing careers in senior living, Eclipse Senior Living held roundtable conversations among female associates to learn about their experiences working in the senior living. A report summarizing key findings and opportunities is now available on the Eclipse website.

The discussions provided a platform for female associates across the company to speak among themselves and with senior leadership, who hosted the discussions. A wide range of topics were explored, including what it takes to have a successful career, the impact of the pandemic on the workplace, issues women in the workplace want senior leadership to know and programs they believe will support their success.

From the virtual one-hour sessions, Eclipse created a report on the insights and also provides perspective to help associates with the topics that were discussed.

“The ‘Women in the Workplace’ report authentically connects perspectives from a wide range of diverse women from many different teams and roles in the company,” said Sara Lee, Eclipse senior living vice president of human resources. “It will help associates explore challenges to career growth and advance the development of new ideas to help women overcome career challenges in senior living.”

Eclipse Senior Living will use the report as one of many resources to help create new programs and company outreach aiding women in their career development and success in senior living.

“Women make up the vast majority of our workforce both here and in the senior living business in general,” said Kai Hsiao, Eclipse Senior Living CEO. “We wanted our associates to know we heard them and we’re working to create solutions and improvements that will benefit their careers with us and hopefully help others in the senior living business, too. We are going to continue to use the report and a well-facilitated feedback loop as part of I.D.E.A., our inclusion and diversity program, to measure the impact of our work on this important topic.”
