GIG HARBOR, Wash. – Heron’s Key, a resort-style Life Plan Community in Gig Harbor, Washington, recently hired Katelynn (Katie) Houck to fill the role of executive director.
Houck replaces retiring executive director, Amy Webb, who spent nearly five years leading the community. Houck has an extensive background in senior living beginning her career in 2008 as a certified nursing assistant. Through the years she progressed to become a licensed practical nurse followed by a registered nurse. She then served as a registered nurse team leader, resident care manager, director of nursing services and assistant administrator.
Not only does she have more than a decade of hands-on experience, but Houck also holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Western Governors University and is a licensed nursing home administrator.
“We are so excited to have Katie on the Heron’s Key team,” said Lisa Hardy, president and CEO of Emerald Communities. “She brings boots-on-the-ground experience and an unmatched passion for senior living to her new position as executive director. We know she will be a wonderful asset to Heron’s Key and Emerald Communities.”
As executive director for Heron’s Key, Houck will oversee management, planning, organization, leadership, motivation, evaluation and control in all operating departments, functions and activities.
“This career announcement has come from many years of hard work and dedication. I love working in senior living and I am ready to bring my knowledge to Heron’s Key,” said Houck. “The community has welcomed me with open arms, and I am looking forward to many great years ahead.”
