A new report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics has found that nearly 42 percent of U.S. hospices offer some form of alternative therapy in their end-of-life care services. Common services included pet therapy, meditation, acupuncture, and massage therapy.
Although these services are not commonly covered by medical insurance, the authors noted that these services can be effective means of alleviating pain and anxiety, as well as improving mood and overall quality of life.
