ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The 2017 Argentum Senior Living Executive Conference officially kicked off today with a focus on advancing the future of senior living.

“There’s never been a more important time to unite and work together to build the future of our industry,” said James Balda, Argentum president and chief executive officer. “Together, we can create change, innovate for the future, and champion the causes most critical to senior living.”

Argentum also acknowledged the inaugural class of 252 Certified Directors of Assisted Living (CDAL). Through the Senior Living Certification Commission (SLCC), the CDALs completed the requirements for earning the credential, which demonstrates the attainment of consistent, relevant, measurable, and industry-recognized standards of practice in the assisted living executive director role.

“I congratulate each of our professionals that have earned the Certified Director of Assisted Living credential,” said Tim Buchanan, SLCC chairman and Legend Senior Living chief executive officer. “The commitment to sit for certification demonstrates not only a personal drive for growth, but also a desire to elevate the standards of the industry.”

“I feel tremendous pride in being one of the first senior living professionals to receive this honor,” said Wilson Anhar, CDAL.

Applications open for the fall CDAL exam testing period on July 31.

During the 2017 Argentum Senior Living Executive Conference, attendees will have the opportunity to attend nearly 40 educational sessions, visit an expo featuring over 300 market-leading exhibiting companies, hear about forward-thinking innovation and cultivating brand loyalty from George Blankenship, former executive at Tesla, Apple, and Gap, and learn about the inspiring story of Derreck Kayongo, founder of the Global Soap Project and chief executive officer of the Center for Civil and Human Rights. The event will come to a close Wednesday evening with the Argentum Hero Awards Gala Dinner where conference attendees will hear emotional stories of extraordinary individuals who truly exhibit the heart of senior living.
