Kate Ford, Principal, Kong Capital LLC Kate is a Principal at Kong Capital, a real estate private equity firm focused on senior living investments. At Kong Capital, she sources and makes recommendations regarding investment opportunities. She also leverages her background as a former lender to secure construction and/or acquisition financing for projects in which Kong Capital invests. Kate oversees Kong Capital’s asset management team and monitors the company’s investments. Kate joined Kong Capital from Titan Fund Management where she served as Vice President of Finance. Prior to real estate development and private equity, Kate spent 10+ years in banking originating and/or syndicating $900M+ of commercial real estate loans for multi-family, retail, industrial, lodging, golf courses, and office buildings. Kate holds a BBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
Federico Lacour, Managing Director, Fosun Property Holdings
Federico is a Managing Director at Fosun Group in NYC, where he leads acquisitions and asset management of healthcare real estate assets and operators in North America. He is also President & Board member of a $100m+ medical office buildings joint venture involving three multi-billion dollar insurance companies. Fosun (ticker 656:HK) is a global principal investor with $100bn+ AUM, listed in Hong Kong. Federico joined from Welltower where he led a team responsible for acquisitions and development of medical office buildings and seniors housing, as well as corporate M&A. Most notably, he led the acquisition, financing and development of a state-of-the-art ~$300m seniors housing & retail facility in midtown Manhattan, in partnership with Sunrise Senior Living and Hines. He is an Industrial Engineer and holds an MBA from Wharton.
Sarah Laffey, SVP and Chief Financial Officer, Benchmark
Sarah Laffey serves as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President at Benchmark Senior Living. She is primarily responsible for overseeing all investment related items for the company including new acquisitions, development, asset management, cultivation and negotiation of new equity joint ventures and lending relationships, as well as overseeing existing investor and lender relations. Sarah joined Benchmark in February 2010. Prior to joining Benchmark, Sarah was a Director at Ziegler Capital Markets, responsible for developing the firms’ investment banking business focused on for-profit CCRC owners and developers. Previous to Ziegler, Sarah was a Managing Director and Group Head of Sovereign Bank’s Senior Living lending specialty. Sarah earned a B.S. in Accounting from Providence College and is also a CFA Charter Holder.
Cody Tremper, Managing Director, JLL Capital Markets, Seniors Housing Cody is a managing director in the Dallas office of JLL Capital Markets, Americas. He’s been involved in the seniors housing industry since 2005 and has more than a decade of experience in healthcare and commercial real estate finance. He specializes in brokering seniors housing and long-term care properties throughout the United States and has been involved in $2.5 billion in seniors housing acquisitions and financing. Before joining JLL, Cody was a managing director in the Dallas office of Greystone Real Estate Advisors. During this time, he originated new construction, acquisition, and mini-perm financing for large institutional clients with facilities nationwide, as well as privately-owned regional clients. Cody received his B.B.A. in Finance from Texas Christian University.
