Every year, senior living leaders across the country make critical decisions about staffing, pricing, services, and growth. But the quality of those decisions depends on one thing: reliable, representative industry data. That’s why participation in the 2025 State of Seniors Housing Survey is so important.
For more than three decades, this research has served as one of the industry’s most trusted benchmarks. Since 1992, the survey has captured financial and operational performance across senior living communities, helping providers, investors, and policymakers better understand trends in revenue, expenses, occupancy, and more.
Strong Data Starts with Strong Participation
In recent years, the survey has collected data from approximately 1,700 to 2,400 properties annually. That level of participation is what makes the report credible and useful.
But the accuracy of the results depends on consistent, year-over-year contributions, especially from the same communities. If you submitted data for a property last year, it’s especially important to provide information again this year so the industry can analyze same-store trends in revenues, costs, and census.
If you have not yet completed the truncated surveys for Q1, Q2, and Q3, those can also be submitted with your annual response to ensure the most complete and accurate picture of your operations. If your organization owns or manages multiple communities, you’re encouraged to submit data for as many properties as practical.
Survey results are adjusted so that larger portfolios are neither over-represented nor under-represented, ensuring a balanced and accurate industry snapshot.
What You’ll Receive
All organizations that complete the survey will receive a complimentary copy of the 2025 Annual State of Seniors Housing report. This resource compiles the results into actionable benchmarks you can use to compare your community’s performance against industry trends.
All information submitted through the survey is handled with complete confidentiality. Results are reported only in the aggregate, with no individual organization or property identified.
A Collaborative Industry Effort
This annual research initiative is a joint effort by leading industry organizations: American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA), National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC), LeadingAge, Argentum and National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL). These groups are working together to improve the quality, consistency, and impact of senior living data across the country.
