When Eric Huy said, “I do,” he did it surrounded not only by family and friends, but also by the residents whose days he has brightened through companionship and care at Artis Senior Living of Wilmette.
Huy, a dedicated care partner at Artis Senior Living of Wilmette, and his bride-to-be, Ann McCormick, celebrated their wedding August 17, in the community’s courtyard at 335 Ridge Road, Wilmette, IL. The celebration marked the first wedding ever hosted at the memory care community and included residents, team members and loved ones as guests.
For Huy, the decision to share his wedding day with residents grew naturally from the relationships he has built in the community. Known for going above and beyond, Huy often brings music and comfort to residents, including moments when he plays guitar and sings in the neighborhood he serves.
Residents were more than witnesses to the milestone. Elizabeth Legaspi, a life enrichment aide and party planner, worked with residents to create wedding decorations, while resident Filomena with a special connection to Huy, served as flower girl.
The courtyard ceremony was officiated by Josh Chavez, an ordained Artis team member and followed by a festive celebration featuring a sparkling grape juice toast and musical entertainment.
The wedding reflects the spirit of Artis Senior Living, where relationships often extend beyond care and become part of a larger sense of family, belonging and shared celebration.
