On October 14, members of the California Assisted Living Association (CALA) met with more than a dozen congressional district offices across California as part of CALA’s annual Federal Day in Your District, bringing the voice of senior living directly to federal policymakers.

Ahead of the meetings, Argentum joined CALA for two advocacy briefings focused on key federal priorities, including House passage of the Older Americans Act reauthorization, expansion of the VA’s assisted living pilot program, and other issues affecting senior living providers and residents.

During meetings with congressional staff, members highlighted the vital role assisted living communities play in supporting older adults through housing, personalized services, and social connection. Participants also emphasized the importance of policies that preserve access, affordability, and choice for seniors and their families.

In addition to discussing policy priorities, providers invited lawmakers and staff to visit their communities, helping build relationships and increase understanding of senior living’s impact in local districts.

Argentum thanks CALA for organizing another successful Federal Day in Your District and appreciates the members who participated. These conversations help ensure senior living remains a strong voice in Washington and lay the groundwork for engagement with the new Congress in 2027.
