Charlottesville, VA – May 6, 2025 – Commonwealth Senior Living announces the promotion of new human resources leadership team members as part of a new structural plan for the department. The new structure is designed to best support its communities and further support Commonwealth’s focus on being a Great Place to Work®. Effective immediately, Amber Turner, MSHRM, SHRM-CP, PHR has been promoted to the role of Senior Vice President of Human Resources. In this role, Ms. Turner will be responsible for the overall human resources strategy and operations at Commonwealth Senior Living. Ms. Turner will also serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Commonwealth Cares, a nonprofit agency that provides grants to Commonwealth Senior Living associates in times of unplanned financial needs.
Ms. Turner previously served as Vice President of Human Resources at Commonwealth Senior Living where she supported various functions including business partnerships, training, compliance, and talent acquisition. She holds a master’s degree in human resources management from Capella University and holds a Professional in Human Resources certification from HR Certification Institute® and SHRM Certified Professional designation from the Society of Human Resources Management.
In addition to Turner’s promotion, the new structure will add three Regional HR Business Partners. The revised structure of our human resources department and Amber’s promotion will allow us to build upon the solid foundation that has been developed over the past years,” said Earl Parker, President & CEO of Commonwealth Senior Living. “By placing more resources closer to communities, we will enhance efficiency, provide targeted regional support, and ensure that key human resources functions are strategically aligned with our organizational needs.”
Commonwealth Senior Living is also announcing that Denee Smith has been promoted to one of the Regional Human Resources Business Partner positions. In this role, Ms. Smith will support Commonwealth’s Peninsula and Eastern region communities while also focusing on training and retention of Business Office Managers companywide.
Mr. Parker continued, “This revised structure will provide more consistent onsite presence from a human resources standpoint while ensuring that we continue to provide our associates with the support they need to thrive.”
