Designing for every resident: Tarkett showcases connected system of senior living flooring solutions, evidence-based design research at 2026 Environments for Aging conference

[current_event_date]

SOLON, OH, APRIL 13, 2026 — At this year’s Environments for Aging (EFA) conference in Phoenix, Tarkett made one thing clear: every space, every design and every resident matters. The global flooring leader presented its comprehensive senior living portfolio at the Phoenix Convention Center, March 16–18, demonstrating how a connected system of responsibly made flooring solutions can help designers create spaces that support residents, caregivers and service teams—without compromise.

“Designing senior living spaces comes with real-life challenges—and real opportunities—to create places that feel welcoming, dignified and built to support everyday life,” said Sandi Soraci, director of healthcare and senior living segment strategy for Tarkett North America. “Our senior living portfolio was built with that responsibility in mind, giving designers a connected system of solutions they can trust to perform, endure and inspire.”

From carpet and resilient to LVT, wall base and finishing accessories, every product in Tarkett’s senior living portfolio is designed to work together, helping designers move confidently from concept to specification across resident rooms, common areas and back-of-house environments. At EFA, attendees experienced firsthand how that integrated approach translates into real design freedom.

At the heart of Tarkett’s most recent carpet solutions for senior living are Preserved Treasures™ and Interwoven Journeys™. Together, they give designers the flexibility to create senior living spaces with purpose and intention, balancing aesthetic expression, performance needs, project timelines and budget realities.

Preserved Treasures delivers elevated warmth and enduring elegance, while Interwoven Journeys provides a versatile, modern foundation inspired by movement, connection and everyday life. With coordinating palettes, thoughtful textures and trusted performance, designers can mix, layer and specify with confidence—selecting the right solution for each space without compromising the overall design vision.

EFA attendees also got an exclusive preview of Transition™ 4.5mm (20 mil) LVT, an upcoming addition to Tarkett’s portfolio. Transition LVT will pair authentic wood and stone visuals and abstract patterns with the durability and easy maintenance that senior living environments demand. Engineered to support mobility, safety and everyday comfort, Transition is transition-less when used with most of Tarkett’s ethos® carpet tile styles, delivering a seamless experience underfoot that is as functional as it is refined.

Completing Tarkett’s integrated senior living story is the Johnsonite® Millwork Wall Base® System, the industry’s most comprehensive collection of finishing borders, offering 114 standard colors across more than 20 modern and traditional profiles. Delivering the look of finely milled wood without the maintenance, Johnsonite Millwork Wall Base never requires touch-ups or repainting, providing lasting durability and a strong return on investment.

Also during EFA, Tarkett presented evidence-based design guidance created in partnership with SAGE. Together, the two groups recently published a comprehensive design guide—written by expert focus groups—that provides practical approaches for designing purposeful senior living communities that support residents’ independence, health and holistic wellness.
