[SEATTLE, Wash. – Jan. 21, 2026] – Era Living, a leading retirement community provider in the Greater Seattle region, recently announced the appointment of Nisan Harel as the Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026. Harel succeeds founder and CEO Eli J. Almo, who started the company nearly 40 years ago with his wife, Rebecca Almo. The Almos will continue to serve as Co-President and Co-Founder, guiding the company’s continued success and long-term planning.
As CEO, Harel will head Era Living’s eight premier senior living communities, which focus on whole-body wellness, culture, warmth, and social fulfillment. This leadership change represents a continuation of the values and ideals that have made Era Living a recognized leader in the region, receiving numerous accolades, such as “Best in the PNW” from The Seattle Times and the “2026 Caring Super Star” recognition from Caring.com. Harel has been with the company for 17 years, most recently serving as Chief Operating Officer before accepting his new post.
“I’m honored to carry forward the company’s legacy of honoring and celebrating older adults,” Harel says. “For our residents and team members, Era Living’s retirement communities are more than a place to live — they’re places where people find security, joy, engagement, and meaningful connections. We’re proud to foster a spirit of family and community that feels like home.”
Harel received his education in finance and brings a background in capital projects. In addition to serving as COO, prior Era Living management roles include Regional Director of Operations as well as Executive Director at several Era Living communities, where he learned about our industry and day-to-day culture firsthand.
For Era Living’s founders, Harel promises to uphold and advance their stated mission “to respect and honor older adults by enhancing the quality of their lives.”
“Through his trustworthy and collaborative leadership style and his extensive experience across operations, capital projects, and community management, Nisan has developed a deep understanding of our culture and what it takes for the organization to thrive,” they say.
