Reports of fairies swarming at a Knoxville memory care community are true. It began as a tribute to a real-life fairy at Anthem Memory Care’s Concord Place, located at 901 Concord Rd. Knoxville, TN. Fairy Stone, age 97, and friends at the community were transformed into sprites with the wave of a wand and the help of Smoky Mountain Hospice of Knoxville.
Volunteers helped the women with makeup, hair and costumes and then held an enchanting photo shoot. The seniors enjoyed getting bedazzled and stepping into a fantasy world.
“We had the magical opportunity to honor one of our residents with an enchanting fantasy world,” said Lorie Ann Wilson, life engagement director for Concord Place. “This was a fun way to celebrate glamour and connect with each other. We turned dreams into reality and created unforgettable moments of joy.”
Fairy, one of eight children born to a coal miner, recalled another time she was glammed up. She was once named prom queen and featured in a hometown newspaper.
