Federal Advocacy Fly-In Scheduled for February

[current_event_date]

capitolALFA will host its 2010 Federal Advocacy Fly-In, February 1-3, in Washington, DC. Providers’ participation in ALFA’s grassroots lobbying efforts is paramount to senior living’s success on Capitol Hill.

Recognizing that members are the most effective advocates for senior living, ALFA has taken a renewed interest in the engagement of its members in direct congressional grassroots lobbying. ALFA will arm participating members with the facts, figures, and talking points they need to successfully engage congressional representatives. Combined with their own anecdotal evidence about the importance of resident-focused care, members can use ALFA data and findings to speak passionately about a senior care system that by and large works (oversight of assisted living in each state), or about a system that needs repair (the Medicare Part D program and its institutional bias towards skilled nursing facilities). Additionally, ALFA members will likely be voicing opposition to pieces of legislation that could negatively impact senior living providers and the residents they serve, such as the so-called Employee Free Choice Act and the so-called Fairness in Nursing Home Arbitration Act.

Member participation in ALFA’s grassroots lobbying efforts is paramount to senior living’s success on Capitol Hill. Plan to be a part of this important event. Here is a tentative schedule:
