From Fly-In to Follow-Through: How Senior Living Advocacy Gains Momentum All Year

[current_event_date]

Argentum’s Public Policy Fly-In is the launching point for our advocacy program throughout the year. The meetings that advocates have on Capitol Hill enable us to form meaningful relationships with policymakers, tell our story, and connect our advocacy on increasing access and affordability and addressing our workforce needs. While Argentum staff meet with lawmakers and their staff on an ongoing basis throughout the year, face-to-face meetings from constituents often have the biggest impact because stakeholders from the lawmakers state or district can speak personally the care we offer in our communities.

Ready to continue the conversation? One of the most effective ways to tell our story is by inviting lawmakers to visit our communities so they can see first-hand daily life in assisted living (last year, more than 130 lawmakers toured communities that were organized by Argentum and our State Partners). Community visits allow policymakers to hear directly from you, your employees and your residents, so they can better understand the challenges you face and why strengthening the senior living model is so important to our nation’s aging population Get the tools you need to coordinate a visit now.

Share the report. Argentum’s annual policy report, The Value of Assisted Living in America provides essential datapoints to share with policymakers both nationally and at the state and local levels. This year’s report focuses on the affordability of assisted living and how assisted living delivers lower costs for families and public programs, better health outcomes, higher quality of life for older adults, reduced strain on Medicare and Medicaid, and scalable solutions for a rapidly aging population. The report also provides a roadmap for addressing the key challenges in long-term care by increasing affordability and access to care, and resolving the workforce shortages.
