CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa—Garden View Place Assisted Living and Memory Care Community, located at 800 Darby Drive in Monona, Iowa, has begun construction on a new memory care addition and community renovation. The community, which first welcomed residents in July of 2005, was purchased earlier this year and is now being managed by Senior Housing Management.
Garden View Place currently offers six, studio-style apartments for those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The addition will bring the total number of memory care apartments to 10, as well as provide a common dining area and living space. “Our new memory care program will soon offer residents a spa room, hospitality counter with serving kitchen, and expanded living room. This will create more space for residents and their loved ones to enjoy,” said Jamie Logan, Garden View Place manager.
In addition to the memory care project, renovation will also occur in the main building. A new sunroom will be constructed at the end of the northwest hallway to offer more social space for residents transitioning from assisted living to memory care. The main community kitchen and dining room will also be remodeled to create more room for seating and a better functioning space for meal preparation. Senior Housing Consultants of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, will be managing the $1.4 million construction and remodeling project designed by Solum Lang Architects, LLC.
