GreenFields of Geneva retirement community is unveiling its beautifully remodeled Bistro, a welcoming neighborhood-style café that expands dining options, offers all day service, and gives residents greater flexibility in when and where they dine.
A Reimagined Dining Destination at GreenFields of Geneva
Located at the crossroads of GreenFields’ independent living residences and health center, the Bistro has long been a popular social gathering spot for residents. The new space is intentionally designed to function as a central hub, while complementing the campus’ existing architecture and design. The result is a beautiful community amenity that welcomes residents and guests from morning until evening.
GreenFields of Geneva is a Life Plan Community offering independent living, assisted living, memory care, short term rehabilitation and skilled nursing, allowing residents to remain on one campus as their needs change. Owned and operated by Lifespace Communities, the organization has made significant investments in enhancing the campus, with the remodeled Bistro representing the latest improvement designed around residents’ evolving preferences and lifestyles.
Creating a Dining Experience That Reflects Resident Preferences
“Our vision was never simply to renovate a dining venue,” said Danielle King, Executive Director of GreenFields of Geneva. “We wanted to create an experience that delights our residents, and reflects the quality, hospitality and lifestyle they have learned to expect from a Lifespace Community. Every decision, from the design and acoustics to the service model and menu, was made with our residents in mind.”
More than a renovation, the new Bistro provides greater choice in when and where people dine while creating another inviting destination for everyday interaction.
The remodeled Bistro complements Savannah, GreenFields’ elegant dining room, by providing a distinctly different atmosphere. While Savannah offers a more formal dining experience, the Bistro provides a relaxed, contemporary café setting where residents and guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner, specialty coffees, fresh baked pastries and snacks throughout the day. Resident favorites, including ice cream, will also be available, and in the evening the space transitions into a comfortable neighborhood style bar where friends can gather over cocktails.
Resident-Inspired Design and Expanded Culinary Offerings
The renovation was shaped by extensive resident feedback. Community members shared their ideas, preferences and expectations throughout the planning process, influencing everything from the layout and furnishings to the overall atmosphere.
GreenFields also partnered with Unidine, the community’s culinary services provider, to identify specialized equipment that supports the expanded menu offerings.
Thoughtful Design Creates a Warm, Welcoming Atmosphere
Thoughtful design elements further enhance the experience. Upscale finishes, comfortable seating and carefully selected sound absorbing materials create an intimate yet approachable atmosphere where conversations are easier and residents are encouraged to linger. Existing architectural elements were blended with carefully selected new finishes and accents, creating a distinctive gathering place that feels both fresh and familiar.
“It’s a different feel, a different menu and a different energy,” King said. “The Bistro is designed to feel like the neighborhood gathering place where people naturally stop to visit with friends, meet family members or simply enjoy a great meal whenever they choose.”
More than a place to eat, the Bistro was designed to encourage the spontaneous conversations, friendships and everyday moments that help make a community feel like home.
