Engineers from Honda have designed a “personal mobility device” that looks like a unicycle for the senior population. The U3-X responds when users lean their weight in the direction they want to move and can go up to 3.7 miles per hour.
The U3-X currently is being tested in Tokyo – and while Honda would not disclose all of the details about the device, The Associated Press reports that it weighs less than 22 pounds, runs on a full charge for an hour, and has a lithium battery.
Honda President Takanobu Ito says the U3-X is still “a proposal,” according to AP, and that the company has no sales plans, pricing, or firm ideas on where or how it will be used – though the device is meant for seniors.
