Completion of Phase One reflects Lifespace’s long-term commitment to residents and the future of senior living in Palm Beach County
Lifespace Communities, one of the nation’s 10 largest nonprofit senior living organizations, today celebrated the completion of Phase One of The Waterford’s two-phase, approximately $138 million campus redevelopment and modernization project, marking a significant milestone in the community’s ongoing transformation.
The investment represents one of the largest investments in The Waterford’s history and reflects Lifespace’s continued commitment to providing exceptional retirement living experiences while meeting the evolving expectations of today’s older adults.
Completed Phase One improvements include a renovated restaurant, bistro and bar, health center, fitness center, pool and spa, administrative and sales offices, enhanced outdoor gathering spaces, a redesigned entrance and security gate, and a new auditorium. Designed to support connection, wellness, and engagement, these enhancements create vibrant new opportunities for residents to enjoy everyday life.
Construction is already underway on Phase Two, which will add new independent living residences, expanded social spaces and amenities, and additional care offerings, including assisted living and memory care. The second phase is expected to be completed in early 2028.
“This milestone represents far more than new buildings and amenities,” said Jesse Jantzen, president and CEO of Lifespace Communities. “It reflects our long-term commitment to The Waterford, our confidence in the future of this community, and our belief that residents deserve environments that support meaningful connections, wellness, and purpose. As demand for high-quality senior living continues to grow, particularly in Florida, this redevelopment positions The Waterford to serve current and future residents for generations to come.”
In addition to enhancing the resident experience, The Waterford continues to play an important role in the local economy and community. The community serves approximately 250 residents and employs more than 155 team members, underscoring its impact as both a trusted senior living provider and valued community partner.
“This is an exciting moment for our residents, families, and team members,” said Ky Moody, executive director of The Waterford. “These enhancements are designed around how people want to live today, with more opportunities to connect, pursue wellness, and remain actively engaged in community life. It’s incredibly rewarding to see this vision come to life.”
The Waterford resident Ken Craig said the redevelopment reflects the community’s commitment to both current and future residents. “Seeing this community grow and evolve has been incredibly meaningful,” Craig said. “The redevelopment has enhanced our campus while giving residents confidence that The Waterford is continuing to invest in our future and in the lifestyle that makes this community so special.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of Phase One will be held June 25, 2026, at 11 a.m., with residents, team members, community partners, and local leaders in attendance.
