Experiences Shared by Residents
Joan and Dave Neikirk have called their cozy two-bedroom cottage at Shipley home for the past eight years. “We love the peaceful setting and how spacious our cottage is,” Joan said. With the second bedroom serving as a comfortable office, they enjoy the flexibility of their space and the easy access to nature and vibrant greenery. “The location is fantastic. We’re close to shops, restaurants, and even a movie theater,” Dave added.
They also stay active and engaged through community events like bridge games, jewelry making, Friday night get-togethers, and weekly happy hours. Dave is full of praise for the supportive staff. “They are more than responsive. They always go the extra mile,” he said.
As ambassadors for the senior living community, they encourage others to come see the vibrant lifestyle for themselves. “Once people are on campus and see what we have here and how comfortable it is, they get it.”
Anna and Peter Somogyi moved from a large five-bedroom home and found just the right fit in a spacious two-bedroom, two-bath apartment at Shipley. Peter, a classical music enthusiast, uses the second room as a music space, while Anna enjoys the well-appointed kitchen for baking. “We love being able to enjoy our hobbies while living in such a warm and supportive environment,” Anna said.
“The staff is outstanding,” she added. “They are so lovely. I can’t give them enough praise.”
The Somogyis were drawn to Shipley’s convenient location and welcoming atmosphere. “Other places felt big and impersonal,” Peter said. “Here, it’s friendly and close-knit.”
Carolyn and Gary Bryant moved to Shipley Living and quickly felt at home. “I tried to be objective, to find even one little thing I’d change while talking about our experience here, and there’s nothing,” Carolyn said. “It’s perfect.” Their children were the first to discover Shipley, exploring options in secret before encouraging their parents to visit. Carolyn and Gary were immediately touched by the warmth and care they encountered.
Today, they cherish their two-bedroom apartment and the deck where they unwind. Carolyn is passionate about the community’s spirit. “We’re a family, a community of people who truly care for each other,” she said. “It’s not like the outside world, where people can feel isolated. Here, we congregate, share, and enjoy one another’s company.”
