Burlington, MA – Northbridge Companies, a trailblazer in senior living throughout New England, proudly marks its 20th anniversary of serving seniors and their families with compassion and excellence. To celebrate this milestone, Co-Founders Jim Coughlin and Wendy Nowokunski embarked on a heartfelt tour of all 18 Northbridge Communities, paying tribute to the residents, families, and dedicated team members who have helped shape Northbridge’s legacy of care and connection.
Throughout the tour, special attention was given to the Compassionate Caregivers Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit created by Northbridge to provide short-term financial assistance to Northbridge associates during times of crisis. Since its inception, the fund has offered essential support to more than 100 associates, reflecting Northbridge’s deep commitment to its people.
The celebratory journey culminated in a grand finale at the newly renovated farmstand—featured on HGTV’s Farmhouse Fixer—where associates, investors, friends, and family gathered for an unforgettable evening. This event was a joyous reflection of Northbridge’s growth and a celebration of the many individuals who have been pivotal in the company’s success.
The evening was filled with live music, inspiring speeches, and photo-worthy moments, bringing together old friends and new connections. A standout highlight of the celebration was the Taste of Northbridge Culinary Competition, where chefs from Northbridge’s various communities teamed up to prepare exquisite appetizers and desserts. Guests indulged in these creations, voting for their favorite team. Though competition was fierce, the Culinary Directors from Avita of Newburyport, Bayberry at Emerald Court, and Stonebridge at Burlington emerged victorious.
Jim Coughlin, Northbridge’s co-founder and CEO, shared his thoughts on the occasion: “It was a privilege to pause and recognize all those who have supported us over the years. To be surrounded by people who have believed in Wendy and me from the start, and who have helped shape Northbridge into what it is today, was truly magical.”
Wendy Nowokunski, co-founder and President, added: “Our 20th-anniversary celebration has been an incredible journey—one that’s taken us across the coastlines of Maine, the mountains of New Hampshire, and down to the Cape. Each stop along the way has reminded Jim and me of why we started Northbridge: the people. Concluding this celebration surrounded by those who mean so much to us, both personally and professionally, has been a highlight.”
While Northbridge’s 20-year celebrations may have drawn to a close, the heart of its mission remains unchanged. Northbridge is and always will be about people—our residents, the families who trust us, the communities we serve, and the associates who bring passion and care to their work every day.
