Some local memory care residents and middle schoolers joined the Olympic fever when they kicked off the international event with their own Olympic games in Rochester. Cascade Creek, an Anthem Memory Care community, hosted the youth for the intergenerational sporting event at the community located at 3530 Fairway Ridge Lane SW, Rochester, MN. 
Ten students from schools located throughout the area joined the residents in competing in frisbee golf, bowling, basketball and bean bag toss. Gold, silver and bronze medals made by the residents will be given out at the closing ceremony.
While the Olympics connects the world together promoting peace and unity, the Cascade Creek Games will connect the seniors and youth both socially and physically to an event that has captivated the world. 
“Building friendships between the generations is so uplifting for our residents,” said, Shelby Baclesse, life engagement director for Cascade Creek. “This gave our seniors a meaningful way to connect with the youth through their shared love of the games.”
