Dennis Dallacqua, an 81-year-old Vietnam veteran, helped kick off a tail-wagging afternoon of heart when Willowbrook Place teamed up with Operation 4 Paws Colorado for a pet adoption event.
Operation 4 Paws is dedicated to rehoming animals that have been left behind by service members and veterans who are no longer able to care for them.
The cause is especially meaningful to the eight veterans residing at Willowbrook Place. For them and their fellow residents, the event was more than an adoption day — it was a chance to honor service, support companions in need and celebrate the comfort animals bring to people of every age. The gathering offered a heartfelt way for the community to remember service and extend care to both veterans and the pets connected to them.

“This event reflects what matters most to our community — compassion, purpose and connection,” said Leslie Rusher, life engagement director for Willowbrook Place. “For our veterans, it is especially meaningful. They understand service, sacrifice and loyalty, and helping these animals find loving homes is a powerful way to honor those values.”
Willowbrook Place is located at 5275 S. Kipling Pkwy, Littleton, CO.
