2022 Senior Living Executive Conference sees day 2 focus shift to strategies on moving the profession forward

[current_event_date]

MINNEAPOLIS (May 17, 2022) – The 2022 Senior Living Executive Conference (SLEC) enters a second day packed with wall-to-wall educational sessions, a keynote address on “non-obvious thinking,” and the opening of the Expo Hall to the 2,000 senior living leaders gathered in Minneapolis through May 18.

Rohit Bhargava ushered in the morning with a keynote address on helping attendees see opportunities others don’t, as well as how to be more resilient, and lead the future. The “non-obvious thinking” method Rohit shared included five usable habits to integrate into daily life to be more creative and see the world differently; how fundamental forces of disruption are shifting consumer behavior and beliefs across industries, and what this means for the senior living industry; what trends are, why they matter, and how to identify trends and patterns of behavior for themselves.

Produced by HMP Global, the Senior Living Executive Conference is the annual meeting of Argentum, the leading national association exclusively dedicated to supporting companies operating professionally managed senior living communities. The 2022 conference provides three full days of education on topics relevant to all levels of senior living professionals and all functions.

Day two featured a public policy presentation by Argentum Public Affairs staff, led by Senior Vice President Maggie Elehwany, on the efforts in Washington, D.C., to press Congress and the current administration on the need for immediate COVID-19 relief for senior living communities. Efforts are also in full motion on getting legislative and administrative action on workforce programming for assisted living and memory care communities.

The second day of SLEC also featured “Insights from the C-Suite: People, Trust, Choice,” led by moderator Joel Nelson, the newly named chairman of the Argentum Board and president and chief executive officer (CEO), Life Care Services. The CEO panelists included Joe Eby, Bickford Senior Living, Tana Gall, Merrill Gardens, and Chris Hyatt, New Perspective Senior Living.

The session offered attendees the opportunity to hear directly from industry leaders as to their perspectives on a variety of topics impacting senior living today and their views of the industry’s future. The panel addressed people and the importance of residents and team members. They also talked about trust and how data, transparency, and best practices impact and effect public and political perceptions. They shared thoughts on choice and how it will impact senior living models and offerings of the future.

Continuing for 2022 is the Executive Director Leadership Institute (EDLI), a special program featuring education designed for Executive Directors, focused on enhancing leadership and skill development in operations management, human resources, sales and marketing, clinical oversight, risk management, and more. Participants will also benefit from the Exhibit Hall, expanded for 2022, delivering innovation and best-in-class approaches to services and solutions.

Educational tracks for 2022 include:

  • Dining and Hospitality, with sessions highlighting issues on wellness in dining driven by global flavors, sustainability, planning processes, training, and the tools to drive in-house innovation and sustain your business model.
  • Finance and Development, covering risk management, cost containment, planning for the middle market, future growth, and design strategies.
