Sagewood Residents Raise More Than $30,000 in Support for Neighbors Living with Alzheimer’s

PHOENIX (January 6, 2026) – Sagewood, a resort-style life plan community in North Phoenix, participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in 2025 and raised $38,016 to raise awareness and fund research for the disease.

This is the seventh year Sagewood, its residents and staff have participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Not only do they attend, but community members also organized their own walk along with hosting several fundraising events throughout the year.

Sagewood’s 2025 fundraising events included hosting a fashion show, an outdoor market and a classic car show. Collectively, these efforts helped Sagewood raise more than ever before to support the Alzheimer’s Association.

“Sagewood’s involvement supporting the Alzheimer’s Association has grown into a deeply rooted tradition,” says Ed Smith, Sagewood executive director. “What began as a simple show of support has blossomed into a community-wide movement fueled by personal experiences, shared stories and a collective desire for change.

At Sagewood, the fight against Alzheimer’s is deeply personal as there are dozens of residents receiving memory care services in the community. It’s more than just a fundraising mission for Sagewood and those who live there. Every dollar raised, step walked and event hosted represents real people, the care they receive and the hope to finding a cure.

“This is a cause that is close to the heart of everyone at Sagewood,” says Dannis Murphy, Sagewood memory care director and leader of Alzheimer’s walk efforts. “Many of us have family members with Alzheimer’s or dementia and all of us know neighbors living with the disease. We walk for our friends, families and the members of this community who deserve hope and support.”

As the need for research, care and awareness grows, Sagewood aims to continue supporting the Alzheimer’s Association and uplifting the families affected by the disease. Sagewood’s commitment remains rooted in supporting neighbors, friends and loved ones affected by memory loss.
