The U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging will hold a hearing this Wednesday, May 20, titled “Preventing Falls, Preserving Independence: Technology, Community Programs, and Innovation in Senior Safety.” The hearing will bring attention to one of the most critical challenges facing older adults—and one that senior living communities address every day.
Falls remain a leading concern for aging Americans and their families, but they are also an area where senior living providers are making meaningful progress through proactive care models, innovative technologies, and community-based approaches. This hearing provides a timely platform to highlight those efforts and reinforce the value of senior living as part of the broader continuum of care.
Argentum has been working closely with Committee Chairman Rick Scott (R-FL) to ensure policymakers better understand the essential role assisted living plays in supporting residents’ independence while improving safety outcomes. While Argentum will not participate as a live witness, the association will submit formal written testimony for the record—an important opportunity to communicate the real-world impact of senior living communities directly to lawmakers and their staff.
Argentum is seeking member input to share insights, examples, and experiences from their communities to help inform our written testimony. Real-world examples are critical to helping policymakers understand not just what senior living does—but how it delivers results for residents and families. Argentum is specifically requesting input on:
- How their communities promote and preserve resident independence
- Programs, technologies, or operational strategies used to prevent falls
- Measurable outcomes or success stories related to resident safety
Please reach out to Argentum’s Government Relations team at [email protected] if you would like to provide input for our written testimony.
Please note that all submitted testimony will become part of the public record.
