Some local seniors turned compassion into action, packing a bus full of supplies and delivering them to Hazel Crest families hit hardest by the recent EF-1 tornado.
Residents of Harvester Place, an Anthem Memory Care Community distributed the supplies to hard to families in the hard-hit Hazel Crest neighborhood where a tornado tore roofs from homes and heavily damaged an apartment building.
“Even with a dementia diagnosis, our residents never lose their desire to help others,” said Danyanique Hughes, life engagement director at Harvester Place. “So many of them used to volunteer in the past, and it gives them great joy to continue to make a meaningful difference. It’s important for us at Anthem Memory Care to ensure all residents still have a purpose and connection with the greater community.”
