The House of Representatives currently lacks a dedicated, standing committee focused solely on the needs of older adults, and as a result, issues impacting seniors are often fragmented across multiple committees, making it harder for Congress to develop coordinated, effective solutions.
The House Aging Committee would be a full counterpart to the U.S. Senate’s Special Committee on Aging; if established, it would:
- Elevate aging issues as a national priority
- Improve coordination and oversight of federal programs affecting older adults
- Create a dedicated forum for bipartisan solutions to long‑term care, housing, and workforce challenges
- Ensure Congress hears directly from seniors, caregivers, and providers
