Despite memory loss, David Graham, Harvester Place resident, continues playing his ukulele and guitar.

David Graham has played with his bandmates for 25 years and continues to share his passion for music with his friends at Harvester Place.

For one local senior, performing with his band is even more meaningful now that he battles memory loss. David Graham, age 68, reunited with his band, the Country Gentlemen, to play for family and friends at Harvester Place, an Anthem Memory Care community where he now resides. It was a chance for the ukulele/guitar player to share his passion with friends and family at the community located at 150 S. Frontage Rd., Burr Ridge, Illinois.

“We help our residents continue to express themselves through their hobbies and give them purpose. It’s important to remind residents experiencing dementia of joyful memories of the past,” said Danyanique Hughes, life engagement director for Harvester Place. “Our seniors are energized by music. Listening, playing and reacting to music all have great benefits for those with memory loss.”
