ATLANTA—Thrive Senior Living has been awarded LEED Silver Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for its sustainable and responsible construction of Tribute at Black Hill in Germantown, Md. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the most widely used green building rating system in the world and an international symbol of excellence. The Maryland community achieved LEED certification for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions aimed at achieving high performance in sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
Conservation measures around the interior buildout of Tribute at Black Hill included crafting with dimensional material to reduce waste; sorting and recycling jobsite waste; using renewable materials; incorporating LED-encouraged features such as EV charging stations, solar panels and LED lighting; and installing high-efficient HVAC systems combined with breathable insulation and windows. Waterwise landscape design and installation, as well as rainwater collection for irrigation, are some of the exterior conservation solutions in place at Thrive at Black Hill.
