Today: Argentum Hosts Stakeholder Roundtable with HUD Leadership

[current_event_date]

Argentum will continue its ongoing engagement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) by convening a stakeholder roundtable today with Interim Federal Housing Commissioner and Ginnie Mae President Joe Gormley and senior HUD leadership. The meeting represents the latest in a series of discussions between Argentum, industry leaders, and HUD aimed at advancing federal financing solutions that increase access to senior living and support the development of much-needed housing for America’s aging population.

The roundtable builds on Argentum’s previous meetings with HUD leadership, including the association’s February 2026 meeting with then-Federal Housing Commissioner Frank Cassidy, which focused on strengthening federal housing and financing programs to support senior living development, improving affordability for older adults, and expanding access to capital. Those discussions helped advance collaborative efforts to modernize HUD programs and improve financing opportunities for senior living providers.

During today’s meeting, stakeholders from across the senior living finance and development community will discuss progress made since prior engagements and identify additional opportunities to improve HUD programs that support senior housing investment. Key discussion topics include streamlining HUD’s closing process, expanding financing eligibility for independent living communities, evaluating Mortgage Insurance Premium (MIP) policies, exploring proposals related to shorter mortgage terms, and reviewing Section 232 ratio requirements. These issues remain central to the industry’s efforts to expand housing supply, attract private capital, and improve access to affordable senior living options

Argentum’s engagement with HUD is part of the association’s broader strategic effort to increase access to senior living by expanding capital availability, reducing regulatory barriers, and modernizing federal financing programs. As demographic demand for senior housing continues to grow, collaboration between industry stakeholders and federal policymakers will remain critical to ensuring older adults have access to quality, affordable housing and care options. Argentum will continue to advocate for practical policy solutions that support development, investment, and long-term sustainability across the senior living sector.
