USCIS Confirms Continued Protection for Salvadoran TPS Holders

[current_event_date]

USCIS has updated its El Salvador Temporary Protected Status (TPS) webpage to confirm that Salvadoran nationals currently under TPS retain protection, including work authorization, while the Department of Homeland Security considers its next action. The update — which states that “an announcement on El Salvador’s TPS will be made at the appropriate time” — supersedes an earlier September 3 USCIS/E-Verify alert indicating that Salvadoran TPS was set to terminate on September 9. DHS has not yet published a new Federal Register notice establishing an extended end date, re-registration period, or automatic EAD-extension table, and additional guidance concerning acceptable Form I-9 documentation is expected. Argentum will continue to monitor developments and update members as new guidance is issued.
