(Alexandria, Va.)—Argentum has named Brent Weil as the association’s vice president of workforce development, a newly created position. Weil will focus his efforts on the challenges and opportunities facing the senior living industry in professional development, as well as recruiting and retaining dedicated workers to care for the growing population of older Americans.
In 2015, Argentum cited workforce development as one of the association’s critical focus areas for senior living. Argentum’s research has shown that the industry will need to add 347,000 new jobs and will need to recruit 1.2 million new employees by 2025. Solving the industry’s workforce challenges remains top of mind for senior living leadership across the country.
“It is becoming increasingly important to cultivate opportunities that encourage talented and dedicated workers to see senior living as a career choice,” said James Balda, Argentum president & CEO. “The addition of Brent and this new position are key steps in addressing the industry’s workforce challenges and in providing the tools and resources to assist senior housing and care providers.”
Weil brings to Argentum 15 years of direct experience developing workforce solutions to recruitment challenges. Most recently, he worked for The Manufacturing Institute, a subsidiary of the National Association of Manufacturers in Washington, D.C., where he served as senior vice president of education and workforce. There, Weil managed a team focused on industry engagement and educational partnerships and executed a strategic plan to build career pathways into manufacturing. He has also served as vice president of staffing and mid-Atlantic operations for PrimeFlight Aviation Services in Nashville, Tenn., and as manager of national partnerships for the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C.
“Senior living is a dynamic industry and ensuring a quality workforce will be vital to continued growth as well as outstanding care and service,” said Weil. “I am honored to join Argentum and to help lead an ambitious and impactful workforce development agenda.”
Weil earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Stanford University and a Master of Education degree from The George Washington University.
