Co-payment Equity Act of 2008

[current_event_date]

LEGISLATIVE ALERT

January 11, 2007
Contact: Paul Williams, 703/894-1805, ext. 242

One of ALFA’s top priorities is to increase the accessibility of assisted living services to all Americans. Over the past three years accessibility has been hindered by the Medicare Modernization Act of 2005 (Medicare Part D), which stripped dually eligible residents in assisted living of their waiver of prescription drug copayments. I want you to be among the first to know that ALFA, in conjuction with Reps. Lloyd Doggett (D-25 TX) and Lincoln Diaz-Balart (R-21 FL), has filed H.R. 5604, the “Medicare Part D Home and Community Services Copayment Equity Act of 2008.” This bipartisan measure corrects the apparent oversight in the Medicare Part D program by exempting drug copayments for dually eligible residents in assisted living and other home and community-based care settings. You will be hearing from us soon about contacting your representatives in Congress about this important issue. Rick Grimes, President & CEO Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA).
