Pennsylvania Assisted Living Regulations Due This Month
Regulations resulting from the Pennsylvania General Assembly’s
decision to license assisted living communities are expected to be
released this month. The public will have the opportunity to comment on
them before the regulations are finalized.
In 2007, Gov. Ed Rendell signed into law Act 56, which requires
licensure for providers who choose to operate as assisted living
entities. The law also covers diverse aspects of resident care and
living standards. The Pennsylvania Assisted Living Association (PALA), an ALFA state affiliate, has been active in crafting the regulatory language.
