(Alexandria, Va.) — Argentum is pleased to announce that Regina Serrano has joined the association as vice president, workforce development.

In this role, she will lead and collaborate on new initiatives to address current and coming workforce challenges as well as advance Argentum’s existing programs such as:

“We are thrilled to welcome Regina to Argentum,” said James Balda, Argentum president & CEO. “Her experience and leadership will be significant in addressing the industry’s workforce development challenges and furthering Argentum’s expanded focus on the people at the heart of senior living.”

Collaborations for success

Regina comes to Argentum with more than 25 years in higher education and workforce management experience, most recently serving as managing director and grants development consultant for Pinnacle Workforce Strategies.

In her position as regional director, she had oversight responsibility for both Philadelphia and San Diego’s workforce system, establishing continuous quality improvement systems and strategic plans for integrated service delivery and customer-centered design systems.

Her areas of expertise include working with state and national education and workforce associations and regional workforce boards; providing educational opportunities, national certifications, and career pathways to individuals in health care and IT; and strategies including apprenticeships, Earn-and-Learn cohort models, and learning and engagement blended formats.

Further in alignment with Argentum’s and industry missions, Regina most enjoys assembling partners to develop innovative strategies to gain federal, state, and or foundation resources to meet organizational and business development goals.

Advancing apprenticeship program

Her grants and resource development experience will assist in growing Argentum’s Healthcare Apprenticeship Expansion Program (HAEP), a $6 million project funded by a four-year U.S. Department of Labor–Employment and Training Administration Closing the Skills Gap.

Directly assisting in HAEP work are two additional recent Argentum hires: Candice Udodi, project manager, apprenticeships, who comes to Argentum from the Baltimore City Mayor’s Office of Employment Development, where she was project manager for workforce program HireUp; and Denise Lee, grants administrator, who was grants compliance manager for a nonprofit health organization.

The HAEP program recently announced that it is supporting 1,500 apprenticeships, with a goal of 7,200 by 2024.
